Storm 7th in Nation

The Keuka College synchronized swimming team finished seventh at the US National meet held at Ohio State University over the weekend. Keuka, who finished sixth last season, remaining the top division III school in the nation.
Stanford University (94) won for the fourth consecutive year and were followed by the Buckeyes of Ohio State (87). Local rival Canisius College finished third (70), up two spots from last season. The University of Incarnate Word (65) and the University of Alabama-Birmingham (56.5) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. The University of Arizona (44) was the team that snuck ahead of the Storm and claimed the sixth spot. Keuka ended with a score of 39.5 to finishing seventh. Rounding out the top ten were Wheaton College (37), the University of Florida (36), and the University of Michigan (26.5).
Keuka was led by its two returning All-Collegiate performers Corenn Cookerly (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) and Shannon Crowder (Durban, South Africa/Durban Girls College). The pair were both awarded All-Collegiate status again this year for their performances.
Cookerly finished eighth in the solo routine with a score of 84.667 while Crowder placed tenth with a 83.167. The two scores helped garner seven total points for the Storm.
The pair also teamed with junior teammate Jennifer Kaminska (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) to post the ninth best trio. The three swimmers recorded a final score of 84.833.
Keuka’s team routine was good enough for eighth with a score of 80.333, giving Cookerly and Crowder three top ten performances. They were joined by Kaminska, Felicia Lenzo (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell), Brianne Lojo (Westfield, NJ/Union Catholic), and Tracy Ringel (Columbia, MD/Atholton).
Crowder posted the teams best “A” figures score of 74.969, good enough for 29th overall out of 53. Kaminska score of 66.687 in “B” figures landed her in 22nd place out of 46 swimmers. Lojo finished eighth in “C” figures with a score of 64.660, beating 28 other swimmers. The Storm finished with three swimmers in the top ten in “D” figures. Led by Lenzo in sixth place (61.036). Sophomore Megan Reed (Glenfield, N.Y./South Lewis) placed eighth (60.415) while senior Adriana Riano (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) ended ninth (60.062).
