Storm Capture 2nd at ECAC Championships

The Keuka College synchro team placed second at the ECAC Championships held at the College of William & Mary on Saturday and Sunday. Canisius College took home the ECAC crown with a score of 102. Well ahead of Keuka (77) in second. Finishing behind the Storm were Wheaton College (75), William & Mary (73), University of Pennsylvania (57.5), and Wellsley College (7).
Guiding the Storm to the second place finish were its two soloist in junior Corenn Cookerly (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) and sophomore Shannon Crowder (Durban, South Africa/Durban Girls College). The two finished second and fourth, respectively, to earn 21 total points for Keuka. Cookerly scored an 83.667 while Crowder posted a 82.500.
Keuka also received 24 total points from its two teams fourth and sixth place finishes. Keuka’s top team of Cookerly, Crowder, Jennifer Kaminska (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), Felicia Lenzo (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell), Brianne Lojo (Westfield, NJ/Union Catholic), and Tracy Ringel (Columbia, MD/Atholton) tallied a score of 81.167. The Storm’s “B” team of Samantha Johnston (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland), Shannon O’Donnell (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena), Megan Reed (Glenfield, N.Y./South Lewis), Adriana Riano (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta), and Sarah Silverman (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) finished with a 70.583.
Keuka’s duet of Kaminska and Ringel placed fifth with a 75.000 with the top duet from Canisius posting a score of 94.500. The Storm’s trio of Cookerly, Crowder, and Kaminska finished in third place (84.333) just a few points behind the top Canisius trio (86.500).
In figures, Crowder and Cookerly placed third and fourth in the “A” figures. Kaminska took third place out of 15 swimmers in “B” figures while Lojo placed fourth in “C” figures. Reed and Lenzo finished fourth and fifth, respectively in “D” figures.
The Storm will next compete in the US Nationals at Ohio State University on March 26-29.
