Storm Have Big Day Against Express

The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team got right back on the wining track as they demolished the visiting Express of Wells College by a score of 16-2.  The Storm even its record back up at 4-4 while Wells falls to 4-8 on the year.

With nine different Keuka players scoring at least one goal, the Storm controlled the game from the get go.  Keuka scored the game’s first 10 goals with senior Ann Shatraw (Morristown, N.Y./Carthage) getting it started with an unassisted goal at the 23:51 mark.  Wells finally got on the board with 3:48 remaining in the first half but was quickly answered by two more Storm goals giving Keuka a huge 12-1 lead at the break.

The two defenses picked up its pressure in the second half as Keuka outscored Wells 4-1 over the entire second half.  The Storm out shot Wells 37-11 and picked up 18 more ground balls (30-12).

Shatraw led the Storm with four goals while junior Brenna Leach (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady or Mercy) added three goals and an assist.  Rookie Laura Dougherty (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) had a big game, finishing with a goal and five assists.

Junior Carey Glover (East Syraucse, N.Y./MCC) and freshman Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) each finished with a pair of goals while freshman Molly Wade (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) and senior Abby Brewer (Ovid, N.Y./South Seneca) each had a goal and an assist.

Caitlin Brown scored both Wells goals.

Junior goalie sensation Audrey Randall (Fabius, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) finished with three saves in goal while Wells Liz Barclay ended with 12 saves.

The Storm will next play host to Alfred University this Thursday, Apr4l 24 at 7 pm.
