Storm Land Four on All-NEAC Teams
July 18, 2008
The Keuka College volleyball team didn’t win the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season championship like they did 2006, but they had more players named to the All-NEAC teams then last season.
The Storm finished 14-19 overall and had its season end when they lost (3-0) to top-seeded Philadelphia Biblical University in the NEAC Tournament semifinals this past Saturday.
Despite the losing season Keuka’s middle hitter, senior Jen Shaughnessy (LeRoy, N.Y./LeRoy), had one of the best season’s in school history. Shaughnessy led the Storm with 346 kills, third most ever in a season at Keuka. She also posted a .320 attack percentage, served up 34 aces, and shattered the school’s single-season block record with 161 (1.44 per game). Shaughnessy was a unanimous choice for the All-NEAC first team.
Fellow seniors Aimee Margocs (North Royalton, OH/North Royaton) and Ashley Aman (Walworth, N.Y./Wayne) were both named to the All-NEAC second team. Margocs, the team’s libero, led the squad with 394 digs (4.33 per game). Aman, an outside hitter, finished second on the team in kills (222) and digs (301).
Rookie outside hitter Raelle Naegley (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) was voted to the All-NEAC honorable mention squad after finishing third on the team with 152 kills and 248 digs.
