Storm Stop Saxons; Again

July 18, 2008

The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team won for the second time in as many games and also defeated the Saxons of Alfred University for the second time this season.  Keuka defeated Alfred 13-10 in a night game at Keuka.  The Storm now sit at 5-4 overall while Alfred stands at 2-11 overall.

With the two teams offensive numbers very similar, it was the sensational play of Keuka junior goalie Audrey Randall (Fabius, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) that secured the win for the Storm.  Randall finished with nine saves in goal on 24 Saxon shots.  Alfred’s goalie ended with only four saves in 25 Keuka shot attempts.

Trailing 4-2 in the first half, Keuka responded with four straight goals to claim a 6-4 lead at halftime.  Keuka would never trail again as they traded goals for much of the second half with the Storm winning the half 7-6.

Keuka senior Ann Shatraw (Morristown, N.Y./Carthage) had her second straight big game with five goals while rookie Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) added four goals and an assist.

Junior Brenna Leach (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and freshman Molly Wade (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) each scored twice while junior Katy Priestly (Lyons, N.Y./Lyons) handed out a pair of assists.

Michelle Adams led the Saxons offense with five goals.

The Storm will next play its season finale this Sunday, April 27 at home against Skidmore College at 1 pm.
