Women’s Soccer ‘08 Season Preview
August 25, 2008

Sophomore Alyssa Hermenet
After winning the NEAC regular season championship with a 9-0 record and earning a trip to the ECAC Upstate Tournament in 2007, the Storm return seven of their top eight scorers and sit poised to defend its conference crown.
Named Coach of the Year for the second straight season, Jamie Burke welcomes back a plethora of young talent that helped lead Keuka to the 17th best scoring offense (3.56) in the nation last season. Keuka outscored its opponents 64-26 and dominated its NEAC foes to a tune of 58-6.
The Storm will have to replace its leading scorer and the most prolific scorer in Keuka history in Nicole Bondellio. However, Keuka may not skip a beat, with the return of sophomore sensations Alyssa Hermenet (Williamson, N.Y./Williamson) and Molly McGuigan (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley). Hermenet finished second on the team with 21 goals and 28 points while being named to the All-NEAC second team in her rookie campaign. McGuigan was also a second team all-conference pick in her rookie season after ending with nine goals and three assists for a total of 21 points (third on the team).

Junior Kelly Josephson
Also returning on Keuka’s offense are senior midfielders Shana Jordan (Williamson, N.Y./Wayne) and Brenna Leach (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy). Jordan was an All-NEAC first team selection after ending with five goals and five assists (15 points), a year removed from major knee surgery. Leach added three goals and seven assists (13 points). Sophomore forward Courtney McLaughlin (Warsaw, N.Y./Letchworth) returns after netting five goals and dishing off four assists (14 points) as do junior midfielders Jessica VanScoter (Canisteo, N.Y./Canisteo-Greenwood), 4-2-10, and Alyssa Gumtow (Farmington, N.Y./Victor), 2-1-5.
Keuka’s defense also played a huge role in the Storm’s perfect NEAC record, recording five shutouts and limiting opponents to just 1.44 goals a game. Led by junior Kelly Josephson (Jamestown, N.Y./Maple Grove) a first team All-NEAC performer last season, the Keuka defense also returns senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) and junior Brandi DuVall (Houghton, N.Y./Fillmore), who both started all 18 games last season. Seniors Brooke Coffey (Mt. Morris, N.Y./Mt. Morris) and Audrey Randall 9Fabius, N.Y./Fabius Pompey), as well as junior Kayla Scouten (Port Leyden, N.Y./South Lewis), 0-1-1, will provide depth in the backfield.
Burke’s biggest task will be finding a replacement for Kristi Chamberlain, a four-year starter in goal. Junior transfer Ashley Vail (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili), as well as freshmen Katie Barnhart (Warsaw, N.Y./Attica) and Sara James (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland Cohocton), will compete for minutes in-between the pipes.
