Men’s Soccer ‘08 Season Preview
August 27, 2008
Keuka returns its top two scorers and all but one defensive starter from its 2007 team that posted a 10-7-1 mark, won the NEAC Tournament, and earned a first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Coach Matt Tantalo will rely heavily on his top point-producers Brandon Scott (Fillmore, N.Y./Fillmore) and Jack Reece (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) to better last season’s success. The fleet-footed Scott, a senior, has led the team in scoring the past three seasons. In 2007, he finished with 15 goals and 3 assists for 33 points. He was named to the All-NEAC first team and was also selected as the NEAC Tournament MVP for his stellar play in Keuka’s two tourney wins. Scott ranked 32nd in the nation in goals per game (0.83) and now sits in third place all-time at Keuka with 31 career goals. Read more

Sophomore Raelle Naegely
As the sophomore class goes, so goes the Keuka volleyball team. At least that’s how it looks in 2008.
The Storm will field a young but talented team as they look to regain the NEAC title that escaped them in 2007.
Coach Alena Krug will rely heavily on her large group of talented sophomores, led by outside hitter Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek). Naegely, a 5-10 well-rounded player, had a solid rookie campaign, finishing third on the team in kills with 152 while earning All-NEAC honorable mention honors. Naegely also finished third on the team with 248 digs while recording 28 service aces and 58 blocks.

Sophomore Alyssa Hermenet
After winning the NEAC regular season championship with a 9-0 record and earning a trip to the ECAC Upstate Tournament in 2007, the Storm return seven of their top eight scorers and sit poised to defend its conference crown.
Named Coach of the Year for the second straight season, Jamie Burke welcomes back a plethora of young talent that helped lead Keuka to the 17th best scoring offense (3.56) in the nation last season. Keuka outscored its opponents 64-26 and dominated its NEAC foes to a tune of 58-6.
The Storm will have to replace its leading scorer and the most prolific scorer in Keuka history in Nicole Bondellio. However, Keuka may not skip a beat, with the return of sophomore sensations Alyssa Hermenet (Williamson, N.Y./Williamson) and Molly McGuigan (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley). Hermenet finished second on the team with 21 goals and 28 points while being named to the All-NEAC second team in her rookie campaign. McGuigan was also a second team all-conference pick in her rookie season after ending with nine goals and three assists for a total of 21 points (third on the team).
Burke Headed for the Hall
August 22, 2008
Jamie Burke, who directs the women’s soccer and softball programs at Keuka College, will be inducted into the Section V Basketball Hall of Fame this fall.
Also selected for induction was Burke’s father, Jim, the highly successful hoops coach at Prattsburgh High School.
Jamie is the second leading scorer in the history of Section V girl’s basketball with 2,458 points and the first girl in Section V to eclipse 2,000 career points. She played on three sectional champion teams and was a first-team All-New York state performer in 1994.
At Keuka, Burke has compiled a 67-24 record and led the Storm to two consecutive (2007-08) NCAA softball tournament berths in three seasons as coach. Her soccer teams have gone 22-12 in two seasons and last fall earned a trip to the ECAC tourney.
