Women’s Tennis Picks up First Win of Season

Junior Alison Liberty helped Keuka to its first win of 2008 by winning both her singles and doubles match.
The women’s tennis picked up its first win of 2008 with a 7-2 home victory over Pitt-Bradford.
Keuka improves to 1-3 on the year with the win. The Storm won four of the six singles matches after sweeping all three doubles matches.
In doubles, the duo of sophomore Megan McGowan (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) and junior Alison Liberty (South Berwick, ME/Marshwood) shutout its flight No. 1 oppoenents (8-0). Rookies Nicole Becker (Hornell, N.Y./Avoca) and Kelsey Tamblin (Batavia, N.Y./Oakfield-Alabama) then won a close match in the second flight by a score of 9-7. Scott’s Two Goals Lead Men’s Soccer to Win over Elmira

Senior Brandon Scott netted both of Keuka's goals in the win.
The Keuka men’s soccer team continued its dominant play as they shutout the visiting Soaring Eagles of Elmira College 2-0 on Tuesday.
The Storm improved to 4-1-1 on the year behind a two-goal game from its senior forward Brandon Scott (Fillmore, N.Y./Fillmore) and the strong play of its defense. Elmira falls to 2-5 on the year.
Keuka doubled up Elmira in shots (20-10) while collecting its fourth shutout in six games. Read more

Women’s Tennis Blanked by Hartwick

Sophomore Megan McGowan lost close matches in both singles and doubles.
The women’s tennis team was unable to record a point against the Hawks of Hartwick College in its 9-0 shutout loss on Sunday.

Keuka Harriers Named Keuka Athletes of the Week

Keuka College cross country runners Scott Matheis (Barker, N.Y./Barker) and Lindsey Peck (Sodus, N.Y./Williamson) were both named Keuka College Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20.
Matheis, a freshman who has led the Storm in all three races so far this season, set a new course record while finishing first overall at the Keuka College Invitational on Thursday. Matheis won the 8K race out of 13 runners while finishing in a time of 29:31. He followed that up with a seventh place finish at the Hobart College Invitational two days later. Also an 8K race featuring 32 runners, Matheis placed first for Keuka with a time of 29:51.
Peck, a senior who has led the Storm in two of its three races so far this season, claimed a second and a 15th place finish in the Storm’s races this week. At the Keuka College Invitational, Peck placed second overall out of 15 runners in the 5K race while setting a Keuka record with her time of 23:12. At the Hobart Invite (a 6K), Peck’s 15th place finish was in a time of 30:06.
Lady Storm Runners Finish Third at Hobart Invite

Senior Joelle Soules finished second for the Storm.
Keuka College took third out of three teams at the Hobart College Invitational on Saturday. William Smith College took first with a score of 18, while Wells College edged Keuka 61-63.
The Lady Herrons had the top two runners in the 6K race as well as the 4-13 runners. Keuka’s first runner came in 15th place out of 26 runners.
Senior Lindsey Peck (Sodus, N.Y./Williamson) paced the Storm for the second straight race with a time of 30:06. Classmate Joelle Soules (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) had her top-ever finish for the Storm as she came in 17th overall (2nd for Keuka) in a time of 30:57. Read more
Men’s Harriers Take Third at Hobart Invite

Freshman Ben Young finished 15th overall and second for Keuka.
Keuka received another strong outing from rookie Scott Matheis (Barker, N.Y./Barker) while taking third out of four teams at the Hobart College Invitational on Saturday.
Hobart had the top two runners in the 8K race but took second with a score of 39 behind Utica College’s 26. Utica had the 3-6 and 8-10 runners. Keuka finished with an 80, 27 points ahead of Wells College.
