Storm Volleyball Goes 1-2 at Own Invite

The Keuka College volleyball team went 1-2 at its own Invitational on Saturday.  The invite boasted eight teams and 12 matches.

Keuka lost 3-1 to Buffalo State and 3-2 to Clarkson University before rebounding to beat Medaille College 3-1.

Clarkson University was the only team to go 3-0 while Buffalo State, D’Youville College, Hamilton College, and Medaille College all went 2-1, respectively.

In the Storm’s 3-1 loss (18-25, 25-21, 22-25, and 21-25) to the Bengals of Buffalo State, Keuka finished with a .110 attack percentage and 59 digs.  Junior Holly McHale (Carthage, N.Y./Jefferson CC)led Keuka with 13 kills and 21 digs.  Sophomore Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) added 11 kills and nine digs while classmate Morgan Engelbert (Elmira heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) chipped in with six kills.  Senior Diana Frank (West Valley, N.Y./West Valley) dished off 17 assists while sophomore Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) passed away 16 assists.  Rookie Emily Hargrave (Honeoye, N.Y./Honeoye) served up a team-high four aces.

The Storm won the first and third games against Clarkson University but dropped the final two to fall 3-2 (25-19, 15-25, 25-21, 16-25, and 9-15).  Naegely was the only Storm player to reach double

figures in kills with 11 while adding 14 digs.  Senior Samantha Heath (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) ended with a team-high 25 digs while McHale added 19 digs, six kills, and two aces.  Engelbert added seven more kills as Frank dished out 18 assists.

Keuka sported a .270 attack percentage with 11 team blocks in its 3-1 win over Medaille College (25-18, 20-25, 25-20, and 25-20).  Naegely again led the Storm with 13 kills with a .588 attack percentage.  Hargrave added nine kills, four aces, and 2.5 blocks.  McHale chipped in with nine kills and 11 digs as Frank again led with 14 assists.  Sophomore Heather Fish (Newfield, N.Y./Newfield) led with four blocks while classmate Kate Kraus (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) led with 12 digs.  Rookie Mindy Prievo (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) dug ten balls.

Keuka will next play host to Alfred University this Wednesday, Oct. 15 beginning at 7 pm.
