Jordan’s Late Goal gives Women’s Soccer a Tie vs. Hartwick

Senior Shana Jordan's goal tied the game for the Storm.
The Keuka College women’s soccer team used a late second half goal to secure a 1-1 tie with the visiting Hawks of Hartwick College on Saturday.
Senior Shana Jordan’s (Williamson, N.Y./Wayne) game-tying goal near the end of the second half allowed the Storm to equal a 1-1 tie for the second time in its last three games. Keuka now stands at 5-5-2 overall. Hartwick now sits at 4-8-3.
Hartwick out-shot Keuka 8-2 in the opening half but neither team was able to score. One of Hartwick’s shots came close to going into the goal, but the Storm’s keeper Ashley Vail (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) made a diving one-handed save to keep the game scoreless.
The Hawks were finally able to get on the board in the 52nd minute when Alesha Wright scored a goal off a pass from Brittany Pine.
With under five minutes remaining in the game and Hartwick still up 1-0, things did not look good for the Storm. Senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) then had a throw in from about the

midfield spot where she hit a wide open Jordan. Jordan carried the ball all the way down the field and blasted her fifth goal of the season.
Both teams took one shot in the first overtime while Keuka’s hit the post off the foot of junior Jessica VanScoter (Canisteo, N.Y./Canisteo-Greenwood). The Storm then out-shot Hartwick 3-2 in the second overtime. Neither team was able to net a goal.
Hartwick’s Ashley Taylor ended with four saves while Vail collected seven saves.
The Storm will next play host to Elmira College this Tuesday, Oct. 21 beginning at 6 pm.
