Volleyball Splits Crucial NEAC Tri-Match

The Keuka volleyball team split a pair of home North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matches on Saturday.  Keuka dropped its morning match to SUNYIT by a score of 3-0 before shutting out Penn State-Harrisburg 3-0 in the afternoon match.  SUNYIT defeated Harrisburg 3-2 in the middle match.

Keuka now stands at 3-2 in conference play while the SUNYIT Wildcats improve to a perfect 5-0.  Harrisburg remains win less in conference (0-4).  Overall, the Storm now sit at 14-12 with SUNYIT at17-8 and Harrisburg at 6-15.

The Storm started off great against SUNYIT, going up by as many as eight (10-2) in the first set.  The Storm couldn’t hold the lead as they ended falling by two (25-23).  Keuka then lost 25-15 and 25-23 in the next two sets.  Keuka managed an attack percentage of just .028 while the Wildcats sported a .289. 

Sophomore Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) led the Storm with nine kills while also digging 10 balls.  Junior Holly McHale (Carthage, N.Y./Jefferson CC) added six kills and eight digs while senior Samantha Heath (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) had a team-high 13 digs. 

Against the Nittany Lions, Keuka sported a .377 attack percentage while Harrisburg had only a .045.  Keuka added 10 digs to just four for the Lions.  In the first set, Keuka absolutely dominated

Harrisburg winning 25-6.  The final two sets were a little closer with Keuka winning 25-19 and 25-17.

Naegely again led Keuka with 10 kills (.625 %) with McHale finishing with seven kills (.467 %) and a team-high four aces.  Rookie Emily Hargrave (Honeoye, N.Y./Honeoye) added six kills (.600 %) and three aces while senior Diana Frank (West Valley, N.Y./West Valley) led with 13 assists. 

The Storm will next play at the University of Rochester this Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 pm.
