Hoop Stars Named Athletes of the Week

Sophomore Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) and senior Justin Stern (Dewitt, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt)were both named Keuka College Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 23.
Schrock, a 5-7 guard on the Storm’s 0-4 women’s hoops squad, led Keuka in scoring while being named to the Buffalo State All-Tournament Team. Schrock netted a team-high 13 points in the Storm’s loss to Alfred University. She followed that up with 12 points in both of the Storm’s losses in the Tournament. Schrock made seven 3-pointers in the two tournament games and eight for the week. Schrock also had nine rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block.
Stern, a 6-2 guard on Keuka’s 2-0 men’s basketball team, was on fire from behind the arc as he made 10 3-pointers in the Storm’s first two games of the season. Stern scored a game-high 24 points while going 6-for-8 from behind the arc in the Storm’s 79-52 win over SUNY Canton. He followed that up with 14 points, going 4-for-9 from 3-point range. Stern also pulled down 11 rebounds, dished of eight assists, and collected three steals. He finished the week shooting 56% from the floor and an impressive 59% from behind the arc. Stern also went 8-for-9 from the free throw line (89%).
Schrock’s Efforts Not Enough as Storm Fall to Buff State

Sophomore Brittany Schrock made seven 3-pointers in the two games at Buff State to be named to the All-Tournament Team.
Despite a second straight solid game by sophomore Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison). Keuka couldn’t earn its first win as they fell to the host Bengals of Buffalo State by a score of 61-51 on Sunday, Nov. 23. The game was Keuka’s second straight in the Buffalo State Tournament called the Betty Abgott Classic.
Keuka slips to 0-4 on the year while the Bengals receive its first win of the year and stand at 1-2 overall.
Keuka continued to struggle in the second half like they have done in the previous three games. The Storm found themselves down by six at the half (31-25) but shot just 25% in the second half. Keuka managed to hit seven more 3-pointers giving them 17 in the two games of the tournament. Read more
Women’s Hoops Loses to Mavericks at Buff State Tourney

Junior Melissa Thurston led the Storm with 16 points.
The Keuka College women’s basketball team’s first win eluded them once again as they fell 81-58 to the Mavericks of Medaille College on Saturday, Nov. 22. The game was Keuka’s first of two in the Buffalo State Tournament. Keuka will now square off against the host Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 3 pm.
Keuka now sits at 0-3 on the year while Medaille improves to 3-0 overall.
The Storm were close at the break, trailing by just five (32-27), but the Mavericks enjoyed a huge second half with 49 points and seven 3-pointers to pull away. For the game, Medaille made 10 3-pointers while shooting 40% (29-for-73) from the floor. Keuka also connected on 10 3-pointers while shooting 32% (20-for-63). Booker and Coleman Lead Men’s Hoops to Victory Over Elmira

Sophomore Diamond Booker finished just four blocks shy of a triple-double.
The Storm received huge games from sophomore Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas) and junior Alex Coleman (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira Southside) as they knocked off the visiting Soaring Eagles of Elmira College by a score of 68-57 at the Weed Physical Arts Center on Friday.
The Storm improve to 2-0 on the year while Elmira College falls to 0-2.
After a sloppy start (29% shooting), the Storm saw themselves down six (29-23) at the half. Keuka more then broke out of its shooting funk as they shot 70% from the floor and scored 45 second half points to erase its deficit and win by 11 points. Keuka also used a huge advantage from the free throw line, going 15-for-21 compared to just 2-for-4 for Elmira. Read more
Storm Synchro Upsets No. 3 Canisius in Season Opener

Junior Shannon Crowder helped Keuka knock off Canisius College.
The Keuka College synchronized swimming team, ranked No. 7 in the nation, knocked off the visiting No. 3 nationally ranked Golden Griffins of Canisius College by a score of 33.5 to 30 at the Ayers Pool on Friday.
In a competition that featured just figures and no routines, the Storm were able to pull off the victory despite winning just the “D” figures. Canisius claimed the top two sports in “A” figures and three of the top five in “B” figures. The Storm however won three of the top four spots in “C” figures and won the top four in “D” figures.
