Josephson and Peck Honored as Keuka Athletes of the Week
November 4, 2008
Women’s soccer star Kelly Josephson (Jamestown, N.Y./Maple Grove) and women’s cross country runner Lindsey Peck (Sodus, N.Y./Williamson) were both named Keuka College Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 1.
Josephson, the Storm’s sweeper on defense, helped guide the Storm to a second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season title. Even more impressive then that, is that the Storm didn’t lose a single game in conference action for the second straight season. Keuka went 9-0 in 2007 and 7-0-1 in 2008. Josephson and the rest of the Storm’s defense are a huge reason for Keuka’s success. In the Storm’s final game of the regular season, a 2-0 shutout of Cazenovia College, Josephson helped limit the Wildcats to just six shots in 90 minutes. Keuka led the NEAC in goals allowed, goals against average, and shutouts (5). Josephson was an All-NEAC first team selection last season.
Peck, a senior, led the Storm to a fifth place finish at the NEAC Championships. Peck finished the 5K race in 16th place overall out of 55 runners. She ran the race in a time of 21:36 to average a 6:57 mile. Her finish places her on the All-NEAC honorable mention team for the second straight year.
