November 9, 2008

Senior Brandon Scott scored his 17th goal in 17 games to give the Storm an early lead.
The Keuka men’s soccer team gave the top-seeded University of Dallas a run but ended up two goals short as they fell 3-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship game on Sunday. The game was played at Penn State-Harrisburg.
Dallas improves to 16-3-1 overall and will accept the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. Keuka, last season’s NEAC Tournament champ, now sports a 12-4-2 overall record.
The Storm jumped out ahead early as senior forward Brandon Scott (Fillmore, N.Y./Fillmore) scored just 6:56 into the game. The goal was Scott’s 17th of the season and fourth in the last three days. His 17 goals is one shy of the Keuka record of 18 set back in 2003 by Loreto Barbone.
The Storm’s 1-0 lead wouldn’t hold till halftime as Dallas’ Adam Lunger scored off a double assist in the 34th minute. The two teams would remained tied at the break.
Lunger would strike again in the 59th minute off a penalty kick to give Dallas a 2-1 advantage. Not even two minutes later, Michael Chapman took a Bennett Rawicki pass and scored to give Dallas a 3-1 lead.
Keuka, playing without two starters, couldn’t come back as they were out-shot 19-6 in the game. Junior goalie Mike Meskill (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) collected six saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. Dallas’ Chris Sumcizk collected two saves in 90 minutes of action.
