Men’s Basketball Defeats Rival Cazenovia

Sophomore Diamond Booker scored 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor.
The Keuka men’s basketball team traveled to the hostile confines of rival Cazenovia College and came away with a 12-point victory as the Storm edged the Wildcats 75-63.
The victory puts the Storm at 5-8 overall on the year while Cazenovia falls to 4-13 on the season.
With the two teams tied at 10 points a piece a little over five minutes into the game, Keuka used an 8-0 run over the next three minutes to put a little cushion between them and Cazenovia as Keuka held on for a five-point (32-27) halftime lead. Read more
Women’s Hoops Beat Caz by 35; Win Fourth Straight

Sophomore Brittany Schrock went 13-for-13 from the free throw line en route to her game-high 18 points.
The Storm wasted little time in assuring that its current winning streak would stay intact as they jumped out to a 29-point halftime lead en route to an 85-50 win on the road at rival Cazenovia College.
The 35-point win ups Keuka’s winning streak to four games while moving them one game away from .500 at 6-7 overall. Cazenovia, which started the year on an 11-game losing streak, now stands at 1-16 overall.
Keuka came out on fire in the first half shooting 50% (16-for-32) from the floor as they quickly jumped out to a 13-point lead (22-9) eight minutes into the half. Keuka then outscored the Wildcats 29-13 over the final 12 minutes of the opening half to hold a commanding 51-22 halftime advantage. Read more

Durr and Griggs Take Home Keuka Athlete of the Week Honors

Junior men’s basketball player Peter Durr (Barneveld, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) and freshman synchronized swimmer Kristeena Griggs (Hamden, CT/Hamden) were both named Keuka College Athletes of the Week for their sensational performances over the week of Jan. 24.
Durr, a 6-1 shooting guard on the Storm’s 4-8 basketball squad, led Keuka to a 1-1 week while averaging 18 points a game. Durr scored 14 points while going 5-for-9 from the floor in a 69-67 win over D’Youville College. He followed that up with a 22-point performance in a loss to SUNYIT. Durr nailed six of his 12 3-point attempts, including going 5-for-7 in the second half. In the two games, Durr shot 50% (12-for-24) from the floor while going 7-for-16 from behind the arc. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.5 steals a game. On the season, Durr is scoring 12.3 points a game.
Griggs, a rookie on Keuka’s No. 7 nationally ranked synchro team, helped guide Keuka to a second place finish at the Ohio State University tri-meet. Keuka defeated the University of Michigan but lost to the Buckeyes. Griggs was the top finisher in “C” figures posting a score of 64.447. She then took third place in both the trio and duet routines. In trio, Griggs teamed with Courteny Karolinko and Tracy Ringel while posting a score of 80.833, trailing only two Buckeye teams. In the duet, Griggs paired with Brianne Lojo to take third behind two Ohio State duets with a score of 80.000.
Storm Take Second at Ohio State Tri-Meet

The Keuka synchronized swimming team began its 2009 campaign by taking second at the Ohio State University tri-meet on Saturday, Jan. 24. The host Buckeyes won with a score of 94 while the Storm (61) took second ahead of the Wolverines of the University of Michigan (54.5).
The Buckeyes took first in all three routines as well as “A” and “B” figures. Keuka took First in “C” figures while Michigan claimed the top spot in “D” figures. Read more
Men’s Soccer Earns NSCAA Academic Team Award

Coach Matt Tantalo and his team earned the NSCAA Academic Team Award for 2007-08.
The Keuka College men’s soccer team earned plenty of accolades for there work on the field in 2008. Now the Storm are receiving some recognition for its work in the classroom.
Coach Tantalo’s program was rewarded with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for 2007-08. The Storm posted a team GPA of 3.07 out of a possible 4.0.
Keuka was one of only 107 men’s teams across all three NCAA divisions to be given this distinction. The Storm joined the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, and SUNY Geneseo as the only local DIII teams to be honored. Keuka was the only North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) school to be given this award. In order to be recognized, a team must carry a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Keuka had a banner year in 2008, going 12-4-2 overall and making it to the NEAC Tournament championship. The team sported the NEAC Player of the Year as well as five All-NEAC selections.
