Storm Take Second at Ohio State Tri-Meet

The Keuka synchronized swimming team began its 2009 campaign by taking second at the Ohio State University tri-meet on Saturday, Jan. 24. The host Buckeyes won with a score of 94 while the Storm (61) took second ahead of the Wolverines of the University of Michigan (54.5).
The Buckeyes took first in all three routines as well as “A” and “B” figures. Keuka took First in “C” figures while Michigan claimed the top spot in “D” figures.
With Keuka swimming without both of its All-Collegiate swimmers due to injuries, the Storm were unable to participate in a few of the events. The Storm did take third in the trio routine behind two Ohio State trio’s. Junior Courtney Karolinko (Boynton Beach, FL/Park Vista), sophomore Tracy Ringel (Columbia, MD/Atholton), and freshman Kristeena Griggs (Hamden, CT/Hamden) combined to post a score of 80.833.
Griggs also took third in the duet along with teammate Brianne Lojo (Westfield, NJ/Union Catholic). The pair scored an 80.000 while finishing behind two Buckeyes duo’s. Rookies Megan Morehouse (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) and Alicia Wimmer (Brackney, PA/Montrose Area) took fourth overall in the duet with a score of 72.667.
There was no team routines and Keuka had no one compete in the solo routine.
Karolinko placed third overall in the “B” figures (71.225) while Ringel (68.907) and Lojo (67.921) finished right behind her, respectively. Griggs continued her excellent competition by winning “C” figures with a score of 64.447. Morehouse (63.725) and Wimmer (61.333) took second and third.
Keuka will next swim in the Wheaton College Invitational this Saturday, Jan. 31 beginning at 10 am.
