Zahn’s Career-High 21 Leads Storm to 21-Point Win Over RIT

Sophomore Nicki Zahn scored a career-high 21 points to lead Keuka.
A career day by sophomore Nicki Zahn (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) was enough to propel the Storm to a 21-point win over the No. 7 seeded Tigers of the Rochester Institute of Technolgy in the JPMorgan Chase Tournament on Saturday. Keuka finishes in seventh place while going 1-2 in the tournament.
Keuka enjoyed a 46-point second half to pull away from the Tigers and improve to 3-7 on the season. RIT falls to 3-11 overall.
Both teams shot in the low to mid 30’s from the floor while each making 11 field goals in the opening half. It was Keuka, however, who enjoyed a 3-point (30-27) halftime lead. The Storm exploded in the second half, scoring 46 points and shooting 44% from the floor. Keuka also took advantage of all of its free throw attempts, making 15-of-19 (79%). The Storm’s defense also played a part in the big second half as they limited the Tigers to just 27% shooting and only nine field goals. Both teams puled down 47 rebounds while Keuka dished off 10 more assists (18-8) than RIT. Read more
Men’s Basketball Drop Chase Finale to Brockport

Senior Justin Stern hit five more 3-pointers to score a game-high 19 points.
Keuka lost the seventh place game of the JPMorgan Chase Tournament to Brockport State by a score of 70-57 on Saturday to go 0-3 in the Tournament. The Storm finish in eighth place.
The Storm made a run in the second half to get close to Brockport but a slow first half left the Storm in to big of a hole to climb out of as they drop to 3-7 on the year. Brockport used a strong shooting day (52%) to pick up its fourth win of the year (4-8).
Despite both teams shooting 47% or better in the opening half, it was Brockport who jumped out to an 11-point (37-26) halftime lead. Brockport attempted nine more shots and also went 8-for-12 from the free throw line. Keuka shot a dismal 6-for-14 from the charity stripe in the opening half. Read more

Storm Can’t Hold Early Lead Against Roberts

Senior Justin Stern hit five 3-pointers to score a game-high 20 points.
The Keuka men’s basketball team held a seven-point lead more then midway through the first half but couldn’t maintain it as they fell to the Raiders of Roberts Wesleyan College, 74-58 on Friday. The game was held at the Rochester Institute of Technology and was the Storm’s second game in the JPMorgan Chase Tournament.
The loss drops the Storm to 3-6 on the year while the Raiders improve to 9-7 overall.
Keuka used a 7-0 run with just over ten minutes remaining in the first half to build a 22-15 lead. Over the next four minutes Roberts outscored Keuka 12-4 to retake the lead. The Raiders sported a 34-30 lead at the break. Read more

Storm Bested by Roberts in Second Round of Chase

Sophomore Heather Fish recorded a team-high 10 rebounds and eight points in the loss.
The women’s basketball teams second round game of the JPMorgan Chase Tournament didn’t go much better then its first round game as they fell to the No. 5 seeded Raiders of Roberts Wesleyan College by a score of 83-51 at RIT on Thursday.
The Raiders came out on fire and remained that way the entire game as they poured in 83 points while shooting 45% (31-for-69) from the floor. Keuka had its chances, attempting 75 shots but managed to make just 17 of those for a shooting percentage of 23. The Storm went just 3-for-21 from behind the arc while Roberts sank nine long balls. Storm Fall 65-54 to Rochester in Chase Tourney

Junior Alex Coleman led all Keuka scorers with 14 points.
The Keuka College men’s basketball team gave the top seeded YellowJackets of the University of Rochester a scare but were unable to pull off the upset as they were defeated 65-54 in the first round of the JPMorgan Chase Tournament at Brockport on Wednesday.
The Storm trailed by only two at the break and remained close the whole game but fall to 3-5 overall on the year. Rochester improves to 10-2 on the season.
A lay-up by junior guard Alex Coleman (Elmira, N.Y./Southside)with 10:13 remaining in the opening half gave Keuka its first lead of the game (17-15). Rochester regained the lead for good with 4:10 left in the first half but a 3-pointer by Coleman with 47 seconds remaining brought the Storm to within two at break (29-27). Read more
