Keuka’s men’s basketball program suffered a 20-point loss on the road on Saturday, Feb. 7 to the Wildcats of SUNYIT.  The Wildcats couldn’t miss from the floor as they shot 53% for the game overshadowing junior Alex Coleman’s (Elmira, N.Y./Southside) 20-point game.

The loss is the first for the Storm since SUNYIT beat them back on Jan. 24, snapping its three-game winning streak.  Keuka now stands at 7-9 overall while the Wildcats improve to 15-6 overall.

SUNYIT came out hot from the floor and never cooled down as they shot 52% in the first half to build an 11-point lead (42-31) at the break.  Keuka shot 38% from the floor but struggled from behind the arc going 2-of-9 (22%) in the opening half to SUNYIT’s 6-for-10 (60%).  SUNYIT shot even better from the floor in the second half (56%) never giving the Storm a chance to make a comeback.  Keuka again struggled from behind the 3-point line as they went 6-for-21 in the second half to finish at 8-for-30 (27%) in the game.  The Wildcats grabbed 10 more rebounds (47-37) while the Storm took better control of the ball with just 15 turnovers to SUNYIT’s 16.

Coleman finished with a team-high 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting.  The point guard went 4-of-8 from behind the arc while recording five rebounds and four steals.  Sophomore center Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas Acad.) posted another double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.  Booker went 5-for-9 from the floor and also dished out three assists.

Junior Peter Durr (Barneveld, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) dished off a team-high six assists to go along with his nine points, three steals, and three rebounds.  Senior Justin Stern (Dewitt, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) added eight points.

SUNYIT’s David Golembiowski shot an amazing 14-for-16 from the floor including 4-of-5 from behind the arc, to finish with 34 points.  Diloo Brown added 17 points and eight rebounds while Ajani Edwards passed out 13 assists.

Keuka will next play host to Wells College this Tuesday, Feb. 10 beginning at 7 pm.  The game was switched from an away game to a home game.
