Synchro Ties for Second Place at Canisius Invitational

Senior Corenn Cookerly and the rest of the Storm synchro team tied for second place overall.
The Keuka College synchronized swimming team got one of its top two swimmers back from injury and used that to claim a tie for second place at the Canisius College Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 7. The host Golden Griffins won the competition with a score of 90 after sweeping all four of the routines. The Storm and Wheaton College both tied with final scores of 68.
Keuka had better finishes in the solo and duet routines while Wheaton fared better in the trio and team routines. The Storm’s team routine took third place with a score of 85.167. Consisting of Corenn Cookerly (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg), Kristeena Griggs (Hamden, CT/Hamden), Jennifer Kaminska (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), Courtney Karolinko (Boynton Beach, FL/Park Vista), Brianne Lojo (Westfield, NJ/Union Catholic), Megan Morehouse (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan), Tracy Ringel (Columbia, MD/Atholton), and Alicia Wimmer (Brackney, PA/Montrose Area), the Storm were defeated by Canisius’s team (92.500) and Wheaton’s (86.750).
The Storm’s trio of Griggs, Karolinko, and Ringel placed fifth (79.000) behind two Canisius and two Wheaton trio’s. The Golden Griffins again took the top two spots in the duet routine while Kaminska and Cookerly placed third with a score of 84.500. All-Collegiate swimmer Cookerly, took second in the solo routine (85.500) out of five swimmers.
The Storm will next host Wheaton College this Sunday, Feb. 8 beginning at 3 pm.
