Lincoln’s Career-High Paves Way to Storm’s Eighth Straight Win

Sophomore Courtney Lincoln scored a career-high 23 points in the win.
Behind four players double-digit point efforts including sophomore Courtney Lincoln’s (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) career-high 23 points, the Storm knocked off the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Berks 79-67 on Friday, Feb. 13.
The road victory was the Storm’s eighth straight win and moves them to 10-7 overall after a 2-7 start. Penn State-Berks falls to 10-12 overall and drops both games to the Storm this season. Keuka also defeated the Nittany Lions 61-48 on Jan. 31.
Keuka enjoyed a big first half as they steam rolled to 15-point halftime lead. The Storm shot 42% in the opening half while hitting five 3-pointers as its defense did its part by keeping Berks to just 22% shooting. Both teams shot over 50% in the second half as Berks out-scored Keuka 43-40. The Nittany Lions were unable to climb out of its 15-point first-half deficit. The two teams both grabbed 42 rebounds and were close in turnovers (17 for Keuka, 16 for Berks). The Storm held a huge advantage from behind the arc, however, connecting on eight in the game to just three for the Nittany Lions.
Lincoln was the star of the game, going 7-for-11 from the floor including 4-of-6 from behind the arc and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Her 23 points were a career-high as the point guard also dished off six assists, grabbed six boards, blocked two shots, and collected two steals.
Senior forward Angela Viggiani (Kent, N.Y./Albion) missed a double-double by one rebound as she finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Viggiani shot 6-for-8 from the floor. Sophomore guards Jessica Fink (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) and Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) poured in 11 and 10 points, respectively. Junior Melissa Thurston (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) added seven points, six boards, and four assists.
Penn State-Berks’ Jasmine Harris-Kane scored a game-high 28 points despite going 10-for-30 from the floor. Harris-Kane also dished off eight assists and grabbed seven boards. Courtney Bailey added 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Keuka will next play host to Wilson College this Sunday, Feb. 15 beginning at 1 pm.
