Storm Rout Phoenix by 55 to Win Ninth Straight

Keuka College women’s basketball team put its eight-game winning streak on the line when they hosted the Phoenix of Wilson College on Sunday, Feb. 15 but never were in jeopardy as they cruised to a 55-point win (79-24).
Keuka now stands at 11-7, a vast improvement from its 2-7 start while Wilson has now dropped 21 straight games and stand at 1-21 overall.
The Storm shot 46% from the floor in both half’s and had all but one player score as they cruised to a huge victory. Keuka jumped out to a 37-15 lead at the break before completely routing Wilson in the second half 42-9. Keuka passed out 26 assists to just five from Wilson while they out-rebounded them 42-30. Keuka also finished with 24 steals while causing 32 Phoenix turnovers.
Junior Melissa Thurston (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) and sophomore Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) each led Keuka with 11 points. Thurston went 4-for-5 from the floor while collecting four steals as Schrock went a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor including 3-for-3 from behind the arc.
Sophomore Courtney Lincoln (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) had eight points with seven assists as classmate Jessica Fink (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) also scored eight points to go with three assists. Sophomore Morgan Engelbert (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) added eight points while coming off the bench. Junior Joycelynn Crapp (Slyvester, GA/Worth County) netted eight points off the bench to go with her team-high seven rebounds.
Amanda Price led the Phoenix scoring 14 of its 24 points while Alaina Hofer added six points and seven rebounds.
Keuka will next play host to D’Youville College this Tuesday, Feb. 17 beginning at 6 pm.
