Storm’s Defense Nets them 11th Straight Win

Junior Melissa Thurston tallied 11 points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals in the Storm's 11th straight win.
Keuka College’s women’s basketball team continued its winning ways while continuing to play ferocious defense in a 60-41 win over rival Cazenovia College on Thursday night at the Weed Physical Arts Center.
The win is the Storm’s 11th straight with just one more regular season game left to play. Keuka now stands at 13-7 overall as they sweep the Wildcats on the year. Cazenovia falls to 2-22 overall.
The Story of the game was the Storm’s defense as they allowed the Wildcats to shoot just 19% (13-for-67) in both half’s while causing them to commit 23 turnovers. Keuka had an off night offensively as well but managed to shoot 36% (24-for-66) from the floor. The Storm led by 10 (27-17) at the break before pulling away in the second by out-scoring Caz 33-24. Keuka finished with 17 steals while out-rebounding the Wildcats 58-50.
Sophomore Jessica Fink (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) was the team’s leading scorer for a second straight game as she finished with 13 points while hitting three of her seven 3-point attempts. Junior Melissa Thurston (Batava, N.Y./Batavia) was the only other Storm player in double figures with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting while also dishing out five assists, grabbing four boards, and collecting three steals.
Senior Angela Viggiani (Kent, N.Y./Albion) missed a double-double by one point as she finished with nine points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Nadia Madmoune (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) pulled down a game-high 12 boards while classmate Courtney Lincoln (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) added five assists.
Cazenovia was led by Colleen Clarke who finished with 11 points despite going 4-for-17 from the floor.
Keuka will play its final regular season game against SUNY Cobleskill, the only NEAC team to defeat the Storm this season, this Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 pm.
