Keuka Draws Univ. of Dallas in Quarterfinals of NEAC Tourney

The Storm will look to bring back its first NEAC Tournament title since 2006-07.

The Storm will look to bring back its first NEAC Tournament title since 2006-07.

The Keuka College women’s basketball team probably should have been the No. 1 seed and host for the upcoming North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament.  The Storm were the only team to lose just once to another conference foe and are still riding a 12-game winning streak.

However, Keuka (14-7) was slapped with the No. 2 seed while the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill (17-6), who the Storm beat 48-41 in its regular season finale on Saturday, were awarded the top seed.

That sets up a game against the No. 7 seeded Crusaders of the University of Dallas who finished the season with a 6-18 mark.  Dallas’ record is a bit deceiving, however, as they do not play any teams from around here due to its location in Texas.

Keuka will square off against Dallas this Friday, Feb. 27 at 6 pm with admission costing $4 for adults and $2 for students with a school ID.  Children under the age of five will be admitted free of charge.

Cobleskill will play Friday at 8 pm against the winner of the play-in game that features No. 9 Wilson College (1-24) at No. 8 Cazenovia College (3-22).  The other quarterfinals match ups are No. 3 D’Youville College (14-11) against No. 6 Penn State-Harrisburg (11-14) at 1 pm and No. 4 SUNYIT (14-11) versus No. 5 Penn State-Berks (11-14) at 3 pm.

The semifinal games will be at 1 and 3 pm, respectively, on Saturday Feb. 28.  The championship game is slated for 1 pm on Sunday March 1.
