Storm Walk-Off with First Win

Freshman Ben Przepiora singled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Keuka baseball team got a much needed victory in thrilling fashion as they earned a 7-6 win in extra innings over the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State-Berks on Sunday, March 29 at Kuhl Field. Game two was suspended in the fourth inning with Keuka leading 5-1. The game will only be made up if necessary.
Freshman catcher Ben Przepiora (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) delivered the walk-off single, scoring junior Craig Pittinger (Moravia, N.Y./Moravia) in the bottom of the ninth. The win is the first for Keuka on the year as they improve to 1-5 overall. The game was also Keuka’s first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game as they now stand at 1-0 in the NEAC. Softball Opens ‘09 with 7-1 Win Over Berks

The Keuka College softball team used a combination of good pitching and timely hitting to begin its 2009 season with a 7-1 win over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Penn State-Berks on Sunday, March 29. Game two was suspended in the fifth inning with Berks leading 2-1. The game will only be made up if necessary.
Berks falls to 5-12 overall and 2-1 in conference action while Keuka starts 1-0 both overall and in the NEAC.
The two teams remained scoreless after three full innings of play until Keuka put up three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Berks cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the fifth before the Storm put the game out of reach with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Keuka finished with 11 hits while the Nittany Lions managed just four singles. Read more
Synchro Finishes Tenth at Nationals

Freshman Kristeena Griggs took sixth out of 57 swimmers in "C" figures.
The Keuka College synchronized swimming team finished its 2008-09 season with a 10th place finish at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals held in San Antonio, Texas. The four day event concluded this Saturday, March 28.
Keuka finished with a final score of 31.5 while the Ohio State University Buckeyes eased to the title with a score of 98. Stanford University took second with a score of 80, just ahead of the only other New York school, Canisius College (76.5). The University of Incarnate Word (66.5), the University of Alabama-Birmingham (56), Lindenwood University (44.5), the University of Florida (42), the University of Arizona (40.5), and Wheaton College (33.5) rounded out the top ten. Women’s Lax Wallops Wilson for First Win

The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team picked up its first win of the 2009 season in a big way with a 16-2 thrashing of the Phoenix of Wilson College on Saturday.
Not only was the win Keuka’s first of the season but the game was also the program’s first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. Keuka now sits at 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the NEAC while Wilson falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Storm got off to a great start by scoring the game’s first nine goals before Wilson could tally its first. That score (9-1) would be the halftime score. Keuka again would score the first seven goals of the second half before Wilson closed out the scoring with its second goal. For the game Keuka dominated the stats categories with a 35-11 advantage in shots and 9-20 in turnovers. Read more
Men’s Lax Routed by Potsdam State

Sophomore Brett Leonard stopped 16 shots in goal.
The Keuka men’s lacrosse team ran into a very tough Potsdam State team on Saturday as they were defeated 14-5. Potsdam outscored Keuka in all four periods, including a huge 5-1 advantage in the third period.
Keuka now sits at 1-4 overall while the Bears improve to 3-2.
Keuka was out-shot 48-17 in the game while Potsdam also picked up 18 more ground balls (40-22). The Bears biggest advantage over the Storm came in face-offs with Potsdam winning 18 of the 22 face-offs. Potsdam went 49-for-50 in clears while Keuka cleared the ball 29-of-32 times. Read more
Storm Swept by Penn State-Abington

The Keuka College baseball team continued on its tough start to the ‘09 season as they were swept in a double header by Penn State-Abington on Friday, March 27. Keuka lost game one 3-0 and game two 8-1.
Abington improves to 11-8 overall while Keuka falls to 0-5.
In game one, sophomore Mike Marsh (Elmira, N.Y./Southside) pitched a complete game while allowing just seven hits and striking out two. Abington plated two runs in the fourth and a third run in the fifth inning. Fellow sophomore Matt Dunn (Walden, N.Y./Chapel Field) had Keuka’s only hit of the game. Read more
Baseball Falls to King’s in Rain Shortened Game

The Keuka baseball team dropped to 0-3 on the year with a 12-1 loss at the hands of King’s College on Thursday, March 26.
King’s improved to 14-5 overall. The game was stopped in the seventh inning due to rain.
The Storm were done in by two bad innings in the field and a lack of hitting as they belted just two singles in 24 at bats. King’s plated 12 runs on 13 hits. The Monarchs scored five runs in both the second and fourth frames. Keuka used two pitchers who combined to walk 11 batters in six innings of work.
