Storm Swimmers Take Third at East Regionals

Junior Sarah Silverman beat 33 other swimmers to win "D" figures.
The Keuka College synchronized swimming team finished third out of eight teams at the East Regionals held at Keuka’s own Ayers Pool this past Saturday and Sunday.
No. 3 ranked Canisius College took home the top spot (99) while No. 8 Wheaton College grabbed second place (84). The No. 7 Storm finished with a score of 76. Boston University and Penn State University both tied for fourth place with a score of 55.5, respectively. The University of Pennsylvania (53), Smith College (46), and Wellesley College (26.5) rounded out the competition.
The Golden Griffins won all four routines as well as “A” figures while Wheaton took “B” and “C” figures and the Storm won “D” figures.
With the routines taking place on Saturday and the figures on Sunday, Keuka got started with a fifth place finish from its trio of Jennifer Kaminska (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), Tracey Ringel (Columbia, MD/Atholton), and Courtney Karolinko (Boynton Beach, FL/Park Vista). The three posted a score of 75.667 behind two Canisius and two Wheaton trio’s.
In the duet routine, Keuka had two of the top five places with seniors Corenn Cookerly (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg)and Kaminska taking third place (82.000) and juniors Shannon Crowder (Durban, South Africa/Durban Girls College) and Brianne Lojo (Westfield, NJ/Union Catholic) taking fifth (75.167).
In solo, Crowder, who just swam honorary, would have finished third with a score of 82.667. Instead third place went to Cookerly who totaled a score of 81.500. Keuka’s team routine consisting of Cookerly, Karolinko, Kaminska, Lojo, Megan Morehouse (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan), Ringel, and Alicia Wimmer (Brackney, PA/Montrose Area) placed third with a total of 79.417. Keuka’s “B” team took sixth out of 11 team routines.
Crowder (78.557) and Cookerly (77.557) placed third and fourth in “A” figures out of seven swimmers. Karolinko took fifth (67.590) out of 19 swimmers in “B” figures. Morehouse (62.154) claimed second overall in “C” figures out of 15 swimmers. Junior Sarah Silverman (Shrewsbury, N.Y./Shrewsbury) beat out 33 other swimmers to win “D” figures with a score of 51.977.
The Storm will next gear up for the ECAC Championships at Wheaton College on Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22.
