The Keuka woman’s lacrosse team endured a loss to the Elmira College Soaring Eagles on senior night in Keuka Park on Wednesday, April 29.  The Storm slip to 3-7 as they suffer its fifth straight loss as Elmira improves to 6-11.

The Storm were out shot by the Soaring Eagles 26-24.  Keuka recorded six more ground balls then Elmira (28-22). Read more

The Keuka men’s lacrosse team fell in its regular season finale to Nazareth College on the road by a score of 20-11.  Keuka currently sits at 7-7 overall while Nazareth improves to 9-6.

The Storm allowed 63 shot attempts while ripping 29 of its own.  Nazareth held a huge advantage on face-offs, winning 29-of-35 while also going perfect in clear attempts (21-for-21).  Read more

On a rainy day, the Keuka baseball team was two hit while enduring a 13-0 loss to the Tigers of R.I.T.  The Storm and the Tigers were slated to play two games but the second game was canceled due to rain. Keuka falls to 6-24 while RIT improves to 16-20.

R.I.T. out-hit Keuka 14-2 as senior Pete Padula (Utica, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) suffered the loss on the mound while pitching four innings.  Freshmen Nick Ventura (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) and Pete Venuti (Solvay, N.Y./Solvay) each had a hit for Keuka. 

The Storm, who received the No. 3 seed in the NEAC Tournament, will next play on Friday, May 1 against Penn-State Harrisburg in the opening round.

Rookie Curtis Evanicki shot an 86.

The Keuka golf team placed sixth out of nine teams at the Elmira College Spring Invitational on Monday, April 27.  The host school won with a finale score of 313 while Hobart College (339) placed second.  SUNY Oswego (349), SUNY Potsdam (349), and Nazareth College (349) all tied for third place.  Keuka (352), Elmira’s “B” team (357), Baptist Bible College (357), and SUNYIT (379) rounded out the competition.

Senior Josh Robinson (Barton, N.Y./Tioga) placed eighth with a score of 82 while rookie Curtis Evanicki (Hemlock, N.Y./Honeoye) shot an 86 to tie for 16th. Read more

The Keuka softball team endured its first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) loss as they fell 4-2 to the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Berks on Monday, April 27.  The game was started on March 29 but was suspended with Keuka trailing 2-1 in the fifth.

The Storm now sit at 15-1 overall in the NEAC and earn the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament.  Berks improves to 12-4 in the conference. Read more

The Keuka baseball team knocked off the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State-Berks by a score of 9-2 on Monday, April 27.  The game was previously played on March 29 but was suspended in the bottom of the fourth with Keuka leading 5-1. 

With the win, the Storm secure themselves a spot in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament and grab the three seed setting up a first round game against the two seed Penn State-Harrisburg. Read more

Led by the sensational play of rookie Sara James (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton), Keuka eased to a  double header sweep of Hilbert College on Sunday, April 26.  Keuka clubbed 41 hits on the day as the Storm won game one by a score of 20-0 and took the second one 20-5.  The Storm now has 19 wins and only four losses on the year.

The Storm out-hit Hilbert 23-2 in the first game while plating 20 runs.  Leading the offensive explosion was James who batted 4-for-4 with five RBIs, and three runs scored.  James also stroked two doubles.  Sophomore Brittany Schrock (Auburn, N.Y./Port Byron) went 3-for-4 while scoring four times and driving in two.  Sophomore Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) chipped in with three hits in four at bats while driving in three and scoring twice.  Fellow sophomore Khaliha Clemons (King Ferry, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) drove in three runs.  Sophomore Kate Kraus (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) picked up the win while hurling  a complete game, two-hit shutout with seven K’s. The Keuka baseball team suffered two losses to the Hawks of Hilbert College despite a power display put on by junior first basemen Ted Black (Turin, N.Y./South Lewis).  The Storm lost game one 10-5 and game two 7-1.  Keuka falls to 5-23 overall.

Keuka got off to a good start as they scored two in the top of the first, highlighted by Black’s first of two, two-run homers.  Hilbert answered with two in the bottom half of the inning before plating seven in the bottom of the sixth.  Black would belt his second homer in the top of the seventh but it was to little to late.  Hilbert belted 16 hits while Keuka ripped eight.  Junior Simon Mills (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack) received the loss while allowing three earned in five innings with five K’s.  Black finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored while senior Ed Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) went 3-for-4. Women’s Tennis Going to NCAAs; McGowan Earns NEAC Player of the Year

Sophomore Megan McGowan was named the NEAC Player of the Year.

The Keuka College women’s tennis made a little history at this year’s North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships that were held at the Birchwood Tennis Center in Clarks Summit, PA over the weekend. 

The Storm finished second overall in the team portion of the championships but were still able to accept the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament due to the provisional status of Penn State-Harrisburg.  The Nittany Lions narrowly defeated the Storm 5-4 in the championship match.  This will be the women’s tennis team’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Keuka softball team had its way with the Express of Wells College on Saturday, April 25 in a pair of conference games.  Keuka won 11-0 in game one and then took the second contest by a score of 15-2.  Keuka now sits at 17-4 overall and 15-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).  Wells falls to 2-26 overall and 0-13 in the conference.

Keuka out-hit Wells 13-5 in game one while senior Kasie Davis (Johnsburg, N.Y./Johnsburg) continued to shine as she tossed a complete game shutout.  Sophomore Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored, while belting a home run.  Classmate Morgan Engelbert (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored while rookie Sara James (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) also batted 2-for-3 while scoring three times.  Senior backstop Stacy Schreiner (Port Byron, N.Y./Port Byron) had a pair of hits to go with her two RBIs.  Read more
