A Brockport State man-up goal off a rebounded shot with just 23 seconds remaining in the game broke a a 6-6 tie and gave the Golden Eagles a 7-6 victory over the Storm on Wednesday.

Keuka slips to 1-5 on the year while Brockport improves to 2-3 overall.

Trailing 4-3 going into the fourth period, Keuka’s TJ Radka (Waterloo, N.Y./Cayuga CC) took over for the Storm.  The senior midfielder scored two straight goals to give Keuka a 5-4 advantage and after Brockport tied it with a goal.  He netted his third goal of the period to again put Keuka in front (6-5).  Brockport would tie the game with 5:27 left in the fourth, setting up the end of the game heroics.

Keuka received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty with under a minute remaining, giving Brockport a man-up situation over the final minute of play.  After a Brockport player took a shot, that was saved but not controlled by sophomore goalie Brett Leonard (Syrcause, N.Y./Westhill), Adam Drypolcher picked up the loose ball and blasted it past Leonard for the eventual game-winner.

Keuka held a 2-1 advantage after the first period behind senior Drew Kunda’s (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) two goals.  The two teams each netted a goal in the second period, giving Keuka a 3-2 advantage at the break.  Brockport blanked the Storm 2-0 in the third period to take control of the game heading into the fourth.

For the game, Brockport out-shot Keuka 34-26 while the Storm picked up more ground balls (29-23).  The two teams tied in face-offs (8-for-16).

Radka was the offensive hero for Keuka as he finished with four goals and an assist.  Kunda netted the Storm’s other two scores.  Freshman Connor Brown (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) passed off two assists while seniors Adam Farrell (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) and Chris Sullivan (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) each recorded an assist.  Sullivan won six of his ten face-offs.

Leonard finished with 15 saves in goal, including five in the fourth period.  Brockport’s Garret Allwes stopped 11 shots in goal while allowing just five scores.

Keuka will next play this Thursday, April 2 at home against Wells College in its first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game.
