Women’s Lax Remain Undefeated in NEAC with 19-9 Win

The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team won its second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game as they knocked off the Mavericks of Medaille College on the road by a score of 19-9 on Thursday.

Keuka has now outscored its NEAC foe’s 35-11 in two games as they improve to 2-0 in the conference and 2-2 overall.  Medaille falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the NEAC.

The two teams played a close first half with Keuka holding a one-goal advantage (8-7) at the break.  The second half belonged soley to the Storm as they outscored Medaille 11-2 in the half.  Keuka out-shot Medaille 39-19 for the game and 21-7 in the second half.  The Storm also dominated the ground balls (26-17) and draw controls (18-11).

Senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) led the scoring with four goals and an assist, giving her nine points on the season.  Sophomore Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) also poured in four goals bumping her up to 11 goals in three games.

Sophomore Laura Dougherty (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) had a solid all-around game with three goals and three assists to finish with a game-high six points.  Classmate Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) also scored three goals.  Sophomores Brittany Murray (Heuvelton, N.Y./Heuvelton) and Courtney Potochniak (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) both finished with two goals and a team-high five ground balls.  Senior Brenna Leach (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) added a goal and four draw controls.

Senior goalie Audrey Randall (Fabius, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) stopped seven shots in goal while her counterpart, Betty Herberger, had 13 saves in goal.

Keuka will next play at home this Friday, April 3 against Wells College beginning at 4 pm.
