Storm Win Third Straight with 16-2 Thumping of Wells

The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team improved its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) record to a perfect 3-0 with its 16-2 win over the Express of Wells College on Friday.

Keuka now sits at 3-2 overall while Wells falls to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the NEAC.

Keuka scored the game’s first nine goals as they raced out to an 11-1 lead at halftime.  The scoring slowed in the second half, with Keuka outscoring Wells 5-1.  For the game, Keuka out-shot Wells 29-7 while picking up eight more (23-15) ground balls.  Wells actually won more draw controls (11-8).

Leading the scoring for Keuka was sophomore Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) who netted four goals to go with her two assists.  Shafer now has 15 goals and five assists (20 points) in just four games.  Senior Brenna Leach (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) also scored four times.

Sophomore Laura Dougherty (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) scored two goals while setting up two others as classmate Brittany Murray (Heuvelton, N.Y./Heuvelton) tallied one goal and a game-high three assists.  Senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) had a goal and an assist as sophomore Courtney Potochniak (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) passed off two helpers.

Also scoring for Keuka were junior Jenn York (Rochester, N.Y./MCC), senior Katy Priestley (Lyons, N.Y./Lyons), and sophomores Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) and Denise Osborne (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo).

Senior Audrey Randall (Fabius, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) stopped five of Wells seven shots while allowing two goals.  The Express’ Liz Barclay had three saves in goal.

Keuka will next play at Oswego State this Thursday, April 9 beginning at 5 pm.
