Tennis Loses Close Match to Elmira

The Keuka College men’s tennis team suffered its first loss of the season while falling to the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The match was played at Elmira.
Keuka drops to 1-1 overall while Elmira collects its first win of the season and sit at 1-5 overall.
Keuka dropped the first three flights of singles as well as the fifth flight while winning the fourth and sixth flights. Senior Justin Roe (Port Byron, N.Y./Port Byron) won the fourth flight in a tight match (7-6 {11-9}, 4-6, 6-1). Classmate James Fitch (Perry, N.Y./Perry) won the sixth flight 6-4, 6-3. Both players are now 2-0 on the year.
In doubles, Keuka lost the first flight but grabbed the final two. Roe and sophomore Patrick Barker (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) won the second flight 8-0 while Junior Casey Dahlstrom (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) and sophomore Blaine Phair (Pembroke, NH/Pembroke) won the third flight 9-8 (7-5).
Keuka will next play host to Penn State-Berks this Sunday, April 5 beginning at 10 am.
