Poor Defense Dooms Storm Against Oswego

The Keuka baseball team enjoyed an 11-hit attack but were failed by its defense as they suffered a 16-6 loss to the Lakers of Oswego State at home on Thursday.
Despite being out-hit just 14-11, Keuka falls to 1-10 on the year while Oswego jumps above .500 and now sits at 7-6 overall.
Oswego jumped on all of the extra outs the Storm gave them in the first three innings as Keuka committed five errors. The Lakers scored one in the first and then three in both the second and third innings. Keuka strung some hits together to plate three in the bottom of the third, to cut Oswego’s lead to 7-3. The Storm’s relievers were unable to keep the game close as they allowed five in the seventh and three more in the eighth.
Oswego finished with 14 hits, including five doubles and three triples, while scoring 16 runs. Keuka ended with 11 hits and six runs.
Sophomore David Janiszeski (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) pitched six strong innings allowing just eight hits and five earned runs. Oswego’s Brady Farkas picked up the win for Oswego, going six and two thirds while allowing six earned.
Junior Ted Black (Turin, N.Y./South Lewis) led Keuka’s sticks with a pair of RBIs while going 2-for-5. Rookie Nick Ventura (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) also batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Janiszeski went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Seniors Alex Paquette (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) and Ed Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) each drove in a run with a hit.
Keuka will next play host to rival Cazenovia College this Saturday, April 11 beginning at 1 pm.
