Women’s Tennis Picks Up Second Straight NEAC Win

Junior Alison Liberty won both her fourth singles and doubles match of the year.
The Keuka College women’s tennis team continued its good start to the spring by picking up its second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win with a 6-3 decision over SUNY Cobleskill on Thursday.
The Storm improve to 3-3 overall and remain undefeated in conference play (2-0). Cobleskill falls to 1-2 overall and in conference play.
Keuka’s top two players played a key role in securing the victory as they both won there singles and then teamed up to win there doubles match. No. 1 player sophomore Megan McGowan (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia), won her singles match easily with a final score of 6-1, 6-1. Junior Alison Liberty (South Berwick, ME/Marshwood) took the win in the second flight with a 6-1, 7-6 victory. The duo then won the top flight of doubles (8-5).
Keuka dropped the third and fourth flight of singles before rebounding to take the fifth and sixth flights. Freshman Nicole Becker (Hornell, N.Y./Avoca) won 8-1 while senior Katie Bremer (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) won 6-2, 6-3.
Keuka lost the second flight of doubles as Bremer and junior Jennifer Heinrich (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) captured an 8-4 win in the third flight of doubles.
Keuka will next play host to the Express of Wells College this Monday, April 13 beginning at 4 pm.
