Baseball Drops Pair to Fredonia

The Keuka baseball team dropped two games to Fredonia State on Tuesday by scores of 8-1 and 4-2.  The Storm slip to 3-14 overall while Fredonia improves to 17-5 overall.

In the first game, Keuka limited Fredonia to just eight hits but managed just four themselves as they allowed three runs in the first and then five in the sixth.  Sophomore Bobby Potter (Montour Falls, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) suffered the loss while striking out two.  Freshman Casey Hoover (Elba, N.Y./Elba) drove in the Storm’s lone run, scored by senior Ed Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee).

The night cap saw the Storm fall 4-2.  Trailing 4-0 entering the fifth, Keuka plated a run in the fifth and seventh innings but couldn’t complete the comeback.  Keuka out-hit Fredonia 9-7 in the game.  Junior Rob Crowley (Attica, N.Y./Attica) pitched a complete game while allowing just three earned.  Rookie Mike Hutchings (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) batted a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while sophomore David Janiszseski (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) went 3-for-4.  Freshman Nick Ventura (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) drove in a run.

Keuka will next play host to the University of Rochester this Wednesday, April 15 beginning at 2:30 pm.
