Women’s Tennis Derails Express 7-2

The Keuka women’s tennis team remained undefeated in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) with a 7-2 win over the defending conference champs, Wells College on Monday, April 13.

The Storm now stand at 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the NEAC.  Wells falls to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in conference action.

Keuka won five of the six singles matches, dropping only the fourth flight.  Megan McGowan (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) won the top flight 6-0, 6-2 while Alison Liberty (South Berwick, ME/Marshwood) won the second flight 6-2, 6-0.  Rookie Kelsey Tamblin (Batavia, N.Y./Oakfield-Alabama) picked up the win in the third flight (6-3, 6-3) while classmate Nicole Becker (Hornell, N.Y./Avoca) won the fifth flight (6-4, 6-1).  Senior Katie Bremer (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) won the sixth flight in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 6-2).

The Storm won two of the three doubles flights with McGowan and Liberty taking the top flight (8-0) and Tamblin and Becker winning the second flight (8-1).

The Storm will next be in action this Sunday at Wilson College beginning at 1 pm.
