Phoenix No Match For Storm Softball

Junior Domino Usiak batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the nightcap.
The Keuka women’s softball team remained undefeated in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as they made easy work of the visiting phoenix of Wilson College on Friday, April 17. Keuka won game one 8-0 and took the nightcap 20-4.
Keuka now sports an impressive 10-1 overall record and perfect 9-0 conference mark. Wilson falls to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the NEAC.
Keuka used a little bit of everything to win the two games as senior Kasie Davis (Johnsburg, N.Y./Johnsburg) pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout in the first game. The Storm then racked up 20 runs on 14 hits in the second game. While its defense committed just one error all day.
Davis had little trouble retiring Phonix hitters as she struck out six while allowing just three hits. Rookie Melissa Deyo (Auburn, N.Y./Port Byron) slugged a two run home run in her lone at bat while senior Lindsay Humberstone (Perry, N.Y./Perry) also drove in a pair of runs.
In game two, sophomore Kate Kraus (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) picked up the win while allowing four earned over four innings and striking out three. Junior Domino Usiak (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) led the sticks going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored, and slugging a triple. Sophomore Morgan Engelbert (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) batted a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBIs, three runs scored, and a home run. Humberstone and sophomore Khaliha Clemons (King Ferry, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) each drove in three runs a piece while sophomore Liz Ripp (Glenfield, N.Y./South Lewis) scored three times.
The Storm will next play at SUNYIT this Friday, April 18 beginning at 1 pm.
