Baseball Splits with SUNYIT

Sophomore Bobby Potter picked up his first win.
The Keuka baseball team split a NEAC Conference double header with SUNYIT on the road on Saturday, April 18. The Storm dropped the first game 4-3 before rebounding to take game two 2-1.
Keuka currently stands at 4-17 overall and 4-5 in the conference while SUNYIT is 9-15 overall and 4-5 in the NEAC.
Keuka held an early 3-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but SUNYIT rallied to score three runs in the fourth and another run in the fifth. Keuka committed five costly errors that led to the Wildcats comeback. Junior Kyle Sherin (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) was the hard luck loser on the hill as he went 4.2 innings while allowing just two earned with four strikeouts.
Rookie Nick Ventura (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) batted 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while junior Ted Black (Turin, N.Y./South Lewis) was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Senior Alex Paquette (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) added two hits and a run scored.
In the second game, sophomore Bobby Potter (Montour Falls, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) pitched six innings while allowing just one earned and striking out five to pick up his first collegiate win. Classmate David Janiszeski (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) picked up the save while pitching a scoreless seventh and striking out two of the three hitters he faced.
Black batted 2-for-3 with an RBI while seniorEd Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) also went 2-for-3 while scoring a run.
The Storm will next play at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, April 19 at 1 pm.
