Sullivan Dominates Face-offs in Win

Led by the spectacular play of senior midfielder Chris Sullivan (East Northport, N.Y./Northport), the Keuka College men’s lacrosse team thumped the Wildcats of Cazenovia College 16-6 on the road on Saturday, April 18.  With the win, the Storm remain undefeated in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) at 3-0 and improve to 5-6 overall.  Cazenovia falls to 5-6 overall.

Keuka used an 8-1 second period to pull away from the Wildcats after leading 4-2 after the first period.  Sporting a 12-3 lead at the half, Keuka outscored Cazenovia 3-2 in the third and then both teams scored one goal a piece in the final period.

The Storm took control of the game from the face-offs, winning 19-of-23.  Sullivan was the main reason as he won 16 of his 20 face-offs.  Keuka out-shot Cazenovia 38-29 while picking up 34 ground balls to just 15 for the Wildcats.  The Storm went 5-for-14 in extra-man opportunities.

Senior Drew Kunda (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tallied a game-high seven goals while Sullivan finished with three goals and 11 ground balls.  Leading scorer, senior TJ Radka (Waterloo, N.Y./Cayuga CC), had two goals and three assists while rookie Connor Brown (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) had a goal and two assists.

Sophomore David Miller (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) and freshmen Parker Gazda (Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) and Tim Mandell (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) all had a goal and an assist.  Senior Adam Farrell (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) dished off one assist.

Sophomore Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) finished with 10 saves while playing all 60 minutes in goal.  Cazenovia used two goalies who each had six saves.

The Storm will next play host to SUNY Cobleskill this Wednesday, April 22 at 7 pm.
