The Keuka men’s lacrosse team entered Wednesday’s match-up with the visiting Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill a perfect 3-0 in the NEAC.  With its 12-2 win, the Storm end the regular season 4-0 in conference play and secure home field advantage for the NEAC Tournament on May 2.  Keuka improves to 6-6 overall while Cobleskill falls to 1-8 overall and 1-3 in the NEAC.

Keuka jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the end of the first period and out-scored Cobleskill 2-0 in the second period to claim a 7-0 lead at intermission.  The Storm then out scored the Fighting Tigers 3-1 in the third and 2-1 in the fourth to ease to a 12-2 win.  Keuka’s defense was tough all game as they allowed just 20 shots while causing 20 turnovers.  The Storm’s “D” also allowed Cobleskill to successfully clear the ball 15-of-30 times.

Keuka out-shot Cobleskill 49-20 and won 11-of-18 face-offs while also picking up 43 ground balls to Cobleskill’s 31. Keuka went a perfect 3-for-3 in extra-man opportunities.

Senior Drew Kunda (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and rookie Gino Marcello (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) each had three goals a piece while senior Adam Farrell (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) had a goal and three assists.

Senior Greg Marsh (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo), sophomore Stephen Ferguson (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill), and freshman Connor Brown (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) each had a goal and an assist while rookies Tim Mandell (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) and Parker Gazda (Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) each tallied one goal a piece.

Sophomore goalie Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill)had 11 saves while Cobleskill’s Robert McDonald had 20 saves.

The Storm will next play host to Elmira College this Saturday, April 25 beginning at 2 pm.
