Softball Shuts Out Naz in Game One, Fall 7-6 in Game Two

Sophomore Denise Bilbow batted 4-for-6 with four runs scored and five stolen bases.
The Keuka softball team split a non-conference double header with the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College on Tuesday, April 21. Keuka won the first game 3-0 before falling 7-6 in the night cap. Keuka now sits at 15-2 overall while Nazareth improves to 13-15.
Senior Kasie Davis (Johnsburg, N.Y./Johnsburg) continued to thrive on the hill as she pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout in game one. Davis improves to 8-0 with the win. Sophomore Denise Bilbow (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) set the tone for the offense as she batted 2-for-3 while scoring two of Keuka’s three runs and stealing three bases. Rookie Sara James (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) also batted 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomores Brittany Schrock (Elmira heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) and Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) each drove in a run.
In game two, Nazareth jumped out to an early 2-1 lead at the end of the first. Naz then poured on five runs in the top of the fifth before Keuka added five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Keuka couldn’t complete the come back as they fell by one.
Sophomore Kate Kraus (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) took the loss on the hill while going the distance. Kraus allowed three earned while striking out seven. Bilbow again batted 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored while James went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Senior Stacy Schreiner (Port Byron, N.Y./Port Byron) had a pinch hit, three-RBI double. Junior Jessica VanScoter (Canisteo, N.Y./Canisteo-Greenwood) batted 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Keuka will next play host to the University of Rochester this Thursday, April 23 beginning at 3 pm.
