Kunda Named NEAC Player of the Year; Leonard Tabbed as Goalie of the Year

After dominating the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) this season by not losing a game (4-0), as well as winning the regular season and tournament championships, the Keuka men’s lacrosse team was well rewarded in the All-Conference selections.

The Storm received the top two honors in Player of the Year and Goalie of the Year while also placing five players on the All-Conference first team and two more on the second team.

Senior attacker Drew Kunda (Syrcause, N.Y./Westhill) brought home the league’s top honor as NEAC Player of the Year.  Kunda led the Storm with 32 goals in just 15 games while adding 11 assists to finish with 43 points (second on team).    Kunda’s three game-winning goals were a team-high as were his seven man-up goals.  He added 25 ground balls.

Sophomore goalie Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill)received NEAC Goalie of the Year honors while finishing with an overall record of 6-7.  Leonard stopped 145 shots in 736:13 minutes of action while ending with a .585 save percentage.  Leonard had an 8.39 goals against average.

Joining Kunda and Leonard on the All-NEAC first team were senior midfielder TJ Radka (Waterloo, N.Y./Cayuga CC), and senior defenders Greg Marsh (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) and Isaac Zehr (Lowville, N.Y./Cayuga CC).

Radka led the team in scoring with 48 points in only 14 games played.  His 25 assists were a team-high and his 23 goals were second on the team.  Radka added 24 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

Marsh split his time between defense and the midfield position and tallied eight goals and two assists (10 points).  His 47 ground balls were second on the team while his 25 caused turnovers led the team.  Zehr was the team’s number one stopper on defense as he also passed off two assists.  Zehr picked up 26 ground balls and caused 23 turnovers (second on team).

Named to the All-NEAC second team was senior midfielder Chris Sullivan (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) and senior defender Cody List (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Odyssey).  Sullivan, the team’s face-off specialist ended with 106 won face-offs for a percentage of .549 (106-for-193).  Sullivan also had a team-high 80 ground balls while scoring 16 points.  He netted nine goals and passed off seven assists.  List had a huge senior season on defense for Keuka while finishing with 24 ground balls.  He also caused 15 turnovers.
