Lax Tournament MVP’s Named Athletes of the Week

After Keuka College won both of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament championships in lacrosse over the weekend. It was only fitting that the two tourney MVP’s would be selected as the Keuka Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 2. Senior attacker Adam Farrell (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) led the Storm to a 17-4 rout of Medaille College in the championship while sophomore midfielder Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) helped Keuka to a 14-13 win over Cazenovia College.
Farrell netted a game-high five goals while also passing off an assist to finish with six points in Keuka’s13-goal win. The NEAC championship is the first one ever played in the sport of men’s lacrosse. Farrell also picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover. On the season, Farrell finished with 21 goals and 10 assists for 31 points which was third on the team.
Shafer also scored five goals including the game-tying goal with 2:09 remaining. Shafer only took eight shots while scoring on five of them as she also secured two ground balls and three draw controls for the Storm. The NEAC Championship is also the first one ever played in women’s lacrosse. For the year, Shafer finished with a team-high 26 goals, six assists, and 32 points in just eight games.
