Lax Tournament MVP’s Named Athletes of the Week

After Keuka College won both of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament championships in lacrosse over the weekend. It was only fitting that the two tourney MVP’s would be selected as the Keuka Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 2. Senior attacker Adam Farrell (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) led the Storm to a 17-4 rout of Medaille College in the championship while sophomore midfielder Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) helped Keuka to a 14-13 win over Cazenovia College.
Farrell netted a game-high five goals while also passing off an assist to finish with six points in Keuka’s13-goal win. The NEAC championship is the first one ever played in the sport of men’s lacrosse. Farrell also picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover. On the season, Farrell finished with 21 goals and 10 assists for 31 points which was third on the team.
Shafer also scored five goals including the game-tying goal with 2:09 remaining. Shafer only took eight shots while scoring on five of them as she also secured two ground balls and three draw controls for the Storm. The NEAC Championship is also the first one ever played in women’s lacrosse. For the year, Shafer finished with a team-high 26 goals, six assists, and 32 points in just eight games.
Women’s Tennis to Battle with Hope in NCAAs

Junior Jennifer Heinrich will help lead Keuka in the NCAAs.
The Keuka College women’s tennis team (5-4) will square off against Hope College (19-5) at 10 am on Thursday, May 7 in its first match of the NCAA Tournament.
This marks the women’s tennis teams first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament as they were awarded the automatic qualifier during the NEAC Tournament. Keuka actually lost a 5-4 decision to Penn State-Harrisburg in the NEAC finals but due to Harrisburg’s provisional status, Keuka received the AQ. Read more
Softball to Square off Against St. John Fisher in NCAA Regional

Seniors Stacy Schreiner, Lindsay Humberstone, Kasie Davis, and Nicole Lesniak will lead Keuka in the NCAAs.
The Keuka College softball team (23-6) will represent the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) for a third straight year in the NCAA Tournament after winning the conference tournament over the weekend.
The Storm received the No. 6 seed in the regional and will play No. 3 St. John Fisher College (30-10) at 12 pm on Thursday, May 7. The games will be played at Ithaca College’s Kostrinsky Field. Keuka split with Fisher during the regular season winning game one 2-1 and dropping the second game 11-13. Read more
Kunda Named NEAC Player of the Year; Leonard Tabbed as Goalie of the Year

Senior Drew Kunda was named the NEAC Player of the Year.
After dominating the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) this season by not losing a game (4-0), as well as winning the regular season and tournament championships, the Keuka men’s lacrosse team was well rewarded in the All-Conference selections.
The Storm received the top two honors in Player of the Year and Goalie of the Year while also placing five players on the All-Conference first team and two more on the second team.
Senior attacker Drew Kunda (Syrcause, N.Y./Westhill) brought home the league’s top honor as NEAC Player of the Year. Kunda led the Storm with 32 goals in just 15 games while adding 11 assists to finish with 43 points (second on team). Kunda’s three game-winning goals were a team-high as were his seven man-up goals. He added 25 ground balls. Read more
Six W. Lax Players Honored by NEAC; Randall Tabbed as Goalie of the Year

Senior Audrey Randall was named the NEAC Goalie of the Year.
Fresh off of winning its first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament championship, the women’s lacrosse team received some more accolades for its successful 2009 season.
The Storm placed four players on the All-Conference’s first team and two more on the second team. Keuka also sported the top goalie in the league as senior Audrey Randall (Fabius, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey)was named the NEAC Goalie of the Year. Randall finished the year with 94 saves while sporting a .441 save percentage. She finished the year with a 4-7 overall record while going 3-1 in conference play. Randall played 633:42 minutes with a goal against average of 11.27. Randall also received a spot on the conference’s first team. Read more
Fredricks Repeats as NEAC Player of the Year; Kraus Tabbed as Pitcher of the Year

Sophomore Sarah Fredricks repeated as the NEAC Player of the Year.
The softball team dominated the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) all season to a tune of a 15-1 record, as well as regular season and tournament championship

The Storm players were rewarded for its success by the conference as seven players in all were named to the All-Conference teams. Keuka also took home the top two honors in Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.
Sophomore first basemen Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) took home the NEAC Player of the Year honors for a second consecutive year. Fredricks batted a team-high .456 with 41 hits in 90 at bats. The slugging sophomore also led Keuka with 10 home runs, 43 RBIs, and a .933 slugging percentage while finishing second on the team with seven doubles and a .515 on-base percentage. Fredricks also scored 31 runs on the year while being selected to the first team. Read more
Softball Three-Peats as NEAC Champions

Sophomore Brittany Schrock batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Keuka College softball team completed the three-peat as North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) champions on Saturday, May 2 with a 3-2 win over the No. 2 seeded Spartans of D’Youville College.
After winning both of its games on Friday to put themselves in the championship game, Keuka defending its NEAC Tournament title against the Spartans while both teams finished with six hits a piece. The Storm struck first with two runs in the bottom of the third. D’Youville quickly tied it back up with two runs in the top of the fourth. The Storm manufactured one more run in the bottom half of the fourth to secure the win. Read more
Women’s Lax Wins NEAC Championship 14-13 Over Caz

Sophomore Brandy Shafer's five goals earned her the NEAC Tournament MVP.
The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team defeated the No. 1 seeded Wildcats of Cazenovia College by a score of 14-13 in the first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship on Saturday, May 2 at Cazenovia.
Trailing 13-12 with just over two minutes remaining, Keuka’s Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) netted the game-tying goal off a pass from sophomore Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell). Then with only 46 seconds remaining, senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) scored the game-winning goal. Read more
Baseball Finishes Third at NEAC’s

Junior Ted Black was named to the All-NEAC third team.
The Keuka baseball team lost its second and third games of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament to finish in third place overall. The Storm upset the No. 2 seeded Nittany Lions of Penn State-Harrisburg by a score of 11-8 in its first game but fell to No. 4 Penn State-Berks (23-5) and then No. 1 Cazenovia College (10-5) on Saturday, May 2. Berks went on to defeat Cazenovia in the championship game.
Keuka finishes its season with a 7-26 overall record. Junior first basemen Ted Black (Turin, N.Y./South Lewis) was named to the All-NEAC third team for his performance this season. Read more
Men’s Lacrosse Brings Home First NEAC Championship

Senior Adam Farrell had six points to earn NEAC Tourney MVP honors.
The Keuka College men’s lacrosse program can now call themselves North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament Champions.
The Storm defeated the visiting Mavericks of Medaille College by a 17-4 margin in the title game played at Keuka’s Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday, May 2.
Keuka, who defeated Medaille 21-2 in the regular season, out-scored Medaille 5-0 in the first quarter and then 5-2 in the second to hold a 10-2 lead at halftime. The two teams each scored twice in the third before Keuka ended the game just as it began with a 5-0 quarter. Read more
