Lady Harriers Take 7th at SUNYIT Invite

The Keuka College women’s cross country team finished in seventh place out of nine teams at its season opening race on Saturday, Sept. 5. 

Keuka finished with a team score of 198 at the SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational while William Smith College won the invite with a score of 46.  Daemen College finished five points behind with a 51 while SUNY Potsdam (103), Cazenovia College (117), and SUNY Morrisville (133) rounded out the top five.

Rookie runner Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, N.Y./Waverly)placed first for Keuka in 29th place out of  66 runners.  Gorman ran the 5K race in a time of 26:07.  Fellow freshman Stephanie Pontes (Pompton Lakes, N.Y./Pompton Lakes) placed 36th overall in a time of 27:03.

Sophomore Maddie Reynolds (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) placed third for Keuka in 50th place (30:18).  Sophomore Heather Fischer (Marietta, N.Y./Tully) and junior Mary Nicholas (Geneva, N.Y./DeSales) placed 53rd (31:05) and 54th (31:16), respectively.

The Storm will next run at the SUNY Oswego Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 12 beginning at 11 am.
