Men’s Soccer Records Third Straight Shutout; Ties Potsdam
September 12, 2009

Senior Mike Meskill helped the Storm hold its opponent scoreless for the third straight game.
The Keuka men’s soccer team recorded its third straight shutout, unfortunately they were also held scoreless as they tied the Bears of SUNY Potsdam 0-0 after two overtimes. The two teams also played to a scoreless tie last season.
Keuka now stands at 2-1-1 while Potsdam sits at 1-3-1.
The two teams each ripped 14 shots in the first half with both keepers making a couple huge saves. The Storm finished with five more shots (12-7) in the second half but again were held scoreless. Keuka’s best chance came just a few minutes into the second half when junior forward Jack Reece (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) ripped a shot that snuck past Potsdam’s goalie but slammed off the post.
Both teams collected four shot attempts a piece in the two extra periods but none were real threats of becoming a game-ending goal.
Senior goalie Mike Meskill (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) picked up his second shutout of the season and 21st of his career while stopping 12 shots and playing all 110 minutes. Potsdam’s Joseph Glackin finished with 11 saves to pick up the shutout.
The Storm will next play host to the Hawks of Hilbert College this Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 6 pm.
