Women’s Tennis Falls in Season Opener
September 17, 2009

Junior Megan McGowan won her singles match 6-2, 6-2.
The Keuka women’s tennis team dropped its season-opening match to the visiting Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport by a score of 8-1 at home on Thursday.
Brockport picks up its first win of the season as they improve to 1-5 on the year.
With the exception of junior Megan McGowan’s (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) No. 1 singles match, the Storm were shutout. McGowan, the reining North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Player of the Year, picked up right where she left off last spring. McGowan thumped her Brockport opponent to the tune of a 6-2, 6-2 decision. Keuka lost the other five singles matches.
In doubles, McGowan and senior Alison Liberty (South Berwick, ME/Marshwood) came close to winning its top flight match as they fell 7-9. Keuka lost its No.2 and No. 3 doubles matches by a score of 8-1.
Keuka will next play at Alfred University next Saturday, Sept. 26 beginning at 4 pm
