Socha Wins Hobart Invite; Team Takes Third

Junior Chelsea Socha won the Hobart Invite in a time of 25:58.
Behind the sensational running of junior Chelsea Socha (Himrod, N.Y./Dundee), the women’s cross country team placed third out of five teams at the Hobart Invitational on Saturday.
Keuka finished with a final score of 67 while host William Smith College won the race with a score of 34. SUNY ESF took second with a score of 50 with Penn State-Abington (104) and Wells College (117) taking fourth and fifth, respectively.
Socha, running in just her second career race, bested the second place finisher by eight seconds with her time of 25:58. Socha beat the other 45 runners in the 6K race.
Rookies Stephanie Pontes (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) and Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, N.Y./Waverly) finished in 11th and 15th place. Pontes in a time of 27:51 and Gorman in a time of 28:07.
Sophomores Heather Fischer (Marietta, N.Y./Tully) and Maddie Reynolds (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) rounded out the Storm’s top-five in 33rd (31:52) and 34th (33:04) place.
Keuka will next run in the SUNY Geneseo Invitational on Saturday, October 3 at 11 am.
