Storm Take Sixth at Hobart Invite

The Keuka men’s cross country team took sixth out of seven teams at the Hobart Invitational on Saturday.  Keuka finished with a score of 116.

The host Statesmen won the race with a score of 36 followed by SUNYIT (73).  SUNY ESF (89), Cazenovia College (102), and Wells College (113) rounded out the top five.

Sophomore Scott Matheis (Barker, N.Y./Barker) did his best to help the Storm as he finished the 8K race in a time of 31:25.  His time was good enough for a 14th place finish out of 53 total runners.  Junior Kraig Connor (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) was just 24 seconds behind Matheis while placing 17th overall.

Rookie Justin Hess (Clyde, N.Y./Clyde-Savannah) took 27th place in a time of 33:44 and was followed by juniors Chris Mazella (Depew, N.Y./Depew) and Josh Uline (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton).  The pair finished in 33rd (34:20) and 38th (34:42) place, respectively.

Keuka will next run in the SUNY Geneseo Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3 beginning at noon.
