Juniors Grab Athlete of the Week Honors

Keuka College has named juniors Carl Learned (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) and Chelsea Socha (Himrod, N.Y./Dundee) the Storm Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 19.
Learned, a forward on Keuka’s 4-1-1 men’s soccer team, used his head to help lead the Storm to a 2-0 week. Against Hilbert College, Learned scored both of Keuka’s goals in its 2-1 win by way of a header. He knocked the first one in off a rebound in the 28th minute and the second one off a long serve in the 73rd minute. The goals were his first of the season.
Socha helped Keuka to a third place finish at the Hobart Invitational by winning the race. Socha bested the other 45 runners including finishing eight seconds ahead of William Smith’s top runner. She finished the 6K race in a time of 25:58. This is the second straight week Socha has been named the Keuka Athlete of the Week.
