Volleyball Sweeps Alfred; Win Second Straight

The Keuka volleyball team won its second straight match as they swept the host Saxons of Alfred University by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday.
The Storm improve to 3-10 overall while Alfred remains win less on the year at 0-8.
The Storm won the sets (25-9, 27-25, and 25-16) while crushing 34 kills as a team. Keuka got at least four kills from five different players including a team-high nine kills from junior Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek). Naegely also led the Storm with eight digs. Classmate Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) passed out a team-high 12 assists while rookie Demi Kauppinen (Portville, N.Y./Portville) added 11 assists.
Freshman Brittany Smyder (Avon, N.Y./Avon) led Keuka with three aces and three blocks (two solo) while also killing four balls. Senior Holly McHale (Carthage, N.Y./Jefferson CC) and juniors Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) and Morgan Engelbert (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) each had four kills.
Keuka will next play a tri-match against NEAC foes SUNY Cobleskill and Cazenovia College this Saturday, Sept. 26.
