Volleyball Sweeps Caz Tri-Match

After starting the season 1-10, the Keuka College volleyball team has responded with its third and fourth straight victories as they swept both of its matches at the Cazenovia College tri-match this Saturday. 

The Storm knocked off the host Wildcats 3-1 (25-22, 26-24, 23-25, & 25-17) before shutting out the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, & 25-16).  Keuka improves to 5-10 overall while Cazenovia now sits at 5-8 overall.  Cobleskill stands at 3-4.

Against Cazenovia, Keuka crushed 14 more kills (45-31) then the Wildcats while also serving up eight aces.  Senior Holly McHale (Carthage, N.Y./Jefferson CC) led with 19 digs while posting 11 kills.  Junior Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) added a team-high 12 kills, 12 digs, and four blocks.  Junior Heather Fish (Newfield, N.Y./Newfield) chipped in with eight kills and five blocks.  Junior setter Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) and rookie setter Demi Kauppinen (Portville, N.Y./Portville) each passed out 19 assists a piece while sophomore Hannah Doody (Tully, N.Y./Tully) dug 16 balls.

Against Cobleskill, Keuka posted an attack percentage of .260 while holding the Fighting Tigers to just a .106 attack percentage.  McHale led the way with match-highs of nine kills, four aces, and 10 digs.  Kauppinen added nine assists and six digs.

The Storm will next play at the Nazareth College Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2-3.  The Storm will open against Nazareth College at 4 pm.
